Living in the end

An end is a necessity to a beginning

The end is an absolute for every life
For the unwise the knowledge creates fright.

For the sage, it mandates circumspection.

If I know tomorrow will be “the end”…..

Will I do anything different?

Will I sit and think of things I could have done better?

Or would I go on like, I have always been ready?

The end here is a beginning somewhere.

So it’s the preparation for a journey.

It’s an act of standing at the edge and looking back….

You mourn your mistakes and celebrate your right deeds.

You appreciate love, lost and gained.

The end is not surprised, but we always act as if it is.

If we learn not from the constancy of an end, then we gain not from knowing there is an end.

The end, known from the beginning….

Should make us leave better.

Our lives today should constantly outshine yesterday’s.

In the end we all come to an end.

It shouldn’t scare you but should make you stronger.

My white wall

At birth it was filled with smiling faces
In adolescence there were more questions than answers.
More frowning faces than smiles.
More thinking faces than giggles.

In my late teens I stopped drawing and began to write.
I wrote my sadness in black,
And my joys in blue.
I wrote my indecisions in red, and my plans in green.

A decade later my wall was more black than blue.
And I had to wonder, has it been this bad?
I have missed life cos’ I was seeing only black .
Even though I had blue, I never saw them.

So now I am starting a new.
I am painting everything over.
I want to start again late as it may seem.
So my wall will reflect the truth I have come to know .

That happiness is a choice.

(Sorry for not posting for sometime, I had to take a needed break)

Poverty of living…..

I once knew a man
Whose story will break your heart.

He was born at midday
He died at midnight 56years later.

He lived wealthy and connected
But he died having no friends and was buried alone.

His life was focused on pursuit
Not of happiness but of wealth.

Not of relationships
But of avenues to riches.

So he made his first million at 23
And a billion 10years later.

But the drive never waned
Neither did the desire for more lessen.

So he chose money over Human beings
And investments over family.

Was he happy?
I can never say, a part of him must have been.

Was he lonely?
Definitely, he was.

And so he missed living
Because he was chasing the things he thought were valuable.

He missed the beauty of the rising sun
The beautiful landscapes that flew by his car window.

He was still wealthy in money at death
But was strikingly poor in friends

He had money, more than enough.
But he couldn’t buy love and affection.

He couldn’t buy a genuine “how are you?”
By the time he understood what he lost,he had reached his end.

His last words were brief and deep.
“In my next life , if there is such, I will choose friends over money, love over wealth, family over investments for wealth without these is nothing but poverty covered with expensive clothes”.

Flowing with life or not…..

It’s an amazing feeling to move without action, at least not any action you perform. To glide through life without any effort on your part.
Swimmers will describe the peace they experience when they just lie back and go where the current carried them. No hand strokes or breast strokes or butterfly strokes ; just be there and the waters will do the rest.
The downside in all this experience is that you end up going where you did not wish to go.
If you don’t have a dream, your life will be spent helping others achieve theirs.
Why flow with life’s currents when you can make an intentional pursuit of a life goal.
Those who are wise said “sustained success is never an accident”. It is intentional, it is planned for and worked towards. When you have an unplanned ” success” ,it doesn’t last. The proceeds of such a success are finished long before you know you were successful.
So, the easy way or the hard way?  Flow with life’s currents or forge your path through the waters of life.

Learning

As my life continues to unfold before me, these are lessons I have learnt and keep learning. The knowledge journey for me does not end and so should yours.

Peace is not the absence of war or strife. It is the stillness of the heart in tumultuous times.
Courage is not the absence of fear it is the overriding desire not to conform to the expectations of your weaknesses.
Strength is not the size of your muscle mass. Its your ability to show your real self without masking your deficiencies.
Wisdom is no longer the result of gray . But the result of learning from experiences and making “flash cards” of the lessons so others can learn too.
Obedience is neither servitude nor acting without questioning. It is rather acting based on a conviction that you are free and so have a right to explanations when you are conflicted.
Parenting is not having children. Its being responsible enough to have children and raise them accordingly, to be your lasting legacy for good.
Marriage is not a ceremony. Its a “work in progress” that lasts a lifetime.
An adolescent is not a rebel. Rather he/she is a person constantly shouting ” I want to find me, please help”.
Success is not an event. It is everyday that you find out you have moved beyond where you were the day before.
Failure is inevitable. Except you want to return to your maker like an unwrapped gift box, you must fail so you can succeed.
The feminine gender does not mean weakness. It means a partaker in creation and a reservoir of strength beyond compare.
Tears do not come from the eyes. They come from the heart when they are genuine.
Life is short. But our ideas and actions are immortal.
Whether because of the “big bang” or creation, we are here to change this world for the better. So why not start with you.

What to learn from life

Nobody will tell you to look at both sides of the coin before making decisions, so you can be responsible for your actions
Nobody will tell you to take intelligent risks; for you may just succeed,. Beacuse if you don’t try you have already failed.
Nobody will tell you to be straight forward, you only need to be a victim of cheating to realise the virtue in being straight forward.
Nobody will tell you not to be envious of anything, you only need to get that same thing and see the work it takes to be happy with it.
Nobody will tell you to dream, you only need to wake up one day and see yourself a product of another person’s dream.
Nobody will tell you not to judge a book by its cover, till you walk away from your blessings.
Nobody will tell you to leave your comfort zone, till you find nothing working as you planned.
Nobody will tell you that not all you were taught is as it should be,it also had the teacher’s perspective to it
Nobody will tell you that he who asks shall always recieve,it only depends on what you ask and how.
Nobody will tell you that in the quest for survival, the process may never be what you are used to.
Nobody will tell you to take care of yourself while you care for others ,they assume you already do
Nobody will tell you that life is not just about money, until you have a problem money cannot solve.
Nobody will tell you to be open to blessings for it is not enough to give and not have the spirit to recieve
Nobody will tell you “your cross is too heavy”; let me carry it for you because everybody has his/hers.
Nobody will tell you “I am always here for you”,do as you please. Very soon you will know that man is a fickle minded specie.
Nobody will tell you;’you have done well’, you only have to be satisfied with your effort.
Nobody will tell you to love yourself no matter what, till you find people who want to be you.
Nobody will tell you to walk tall, till your seeming humility takes food off your table.
Nobody will tell you to be sure of what you want, till you realise you were only living out someone else’s dream of your life.
Nobody will tell you to have time for those you love, you will only retire from work one day and find out you are all alone.
Nobody will tell you to give, you only need a moment of consideration to see who is willing to share with you.
Nobody will tell you to play, till you realise you are a stranger to those you truly hold dear.
Nobody will tell you to laugh, till you realise how isolated you are in your bunble of seriousness.
Nobody will tell you to dance and be swooned till you see how much of life you were missing.

Death is not the end . It is rather the beginning of eternity.
Emotions are not weaknesses. They are fulcrums upon which we define our humanity.
Time is not unlimited. It is measured in the rising and setting of the sun.
Hope does not die. It lasts forever for he who so desires it.
Risk is not jumping off a bridge, hoping the water will save you. It is rather jumping off a bridge after making sure the factors that will aid your fall and cushion your landing are in place.
A drunk is not always wrong. Sometimes he says the truth that we dont want to hear.
Being alive is not about sleeping and waking. It is about having an interaction with people and environment, being felt wherever you go.
Religion is not about mosques, churches, temples or other places of worship. It is about your personal relationship with God.
Expertise is not about knowing everything. Its about knowing enough of everything to have a meaningful conversation.
Sight is beyond what the eyes see. It is more about what the mind perceives.
Care is not about provision. Its about your being present when necessary.
Books may hold the key to knowledge. But life experience holds the key to wisdom.
Patience is not always rewarding. But it is always hopeful and fulfilling.
Music is not just about sound. It is about both sound and words.
Animal pets can’t take the place of human friends. No matter the argument you put forward, they are still animals and you still need to relate with your species.
Passion can’t be subdued. It always finds a way to boil over and give excitement when needed.
It is not hard to dress well. You are always addressed as you are dressed.
The sun is not just to light your path. Its there to tell you that “another cycle has begun, make the best of it.”
Your boss is not your friend. He/she is a “slave driver” that must make returns to his/her own bosses.
No matter how bad your day is take a minute to relive your successes and victories, your good times and great times. And in them find courage and hope to attempt life again on a positive note.
